Our Core Values
Statistics: why we need more STEM education
74% of middle school girls express an interest in engineering, science, and math…but only 0.3% choose computer science as a major when they get to college (girlswhocode.org)
93% of STEM jobs have wages above the national average (Bureau of Labor Statistics)
80% of future jobs will require technical skills (U.S. Bureau of Statistics)
Our Unique Approach
We believe that EVERYONE should be equipped with basic STEM knowledge and skills in order to successfully be able to navigate the technology-filled world that we live in today. Our approach is simple and effective: we have developed a self-guided online workshop for levels elementary, middle, and high school to use, and it takes just 3 hours to complete. The purpose of this workshop is to equip learners with fundamental life-tech skills that they may miss out on if they chose not to take a STEM elective (which many students do). Within a few hours, students will learn the basics of computer science and technology, the many important applications of those topics framed in an interdisciplinary way, the basis of logical thinking, how to stay safe online and protect their data, and they will complete interactive coding activities. These are all core life skills that will benefit every learner. What sets our approach apart from others is how we manage to instill core skills in such a short time frame, appealing especially to those who don’t already have STEM knowledge. We want everyone in the world to have basic STEM skills, and this is how we’re doing it.
