I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to present at a local Girls Who Code Club using STEMFuture’s eSafety and Cybersecurity workshop curriculum. Every single one of the students that I presented to was intelligent and excited to be there. I began my presentation with a general overview of how STEM is essential, useful, and fun, placing special emphasis on how anyone can pursue it. As I stood before a room full of girls who were there because they were interested in computer science and they wanted to learn in an environment with fellow awesome STEM girls, I told them to keep pursuing. Because there would be obstacles for them – as there for all of us girls in STEM/CS. But we are too strong – and the future of STEM is too important – to give in or give up. So I told them to continue on this amazing path that they’ve chosen – for this is what STEMFuture is all about.

We dove into the super interactive workshop, and the girls were very engaged – asking questions, sharing anecdotes, and providing feedback of what they found interesting or wish they had been taught in school. We covered topics like what cybersecurity adn eSafety is, malware, the Internet of Things, picking good passwords, phishing emails, and more. We also played a fun game reviewing the information and did some interactive activities as well. It was a great workshop, and the girls all agreed that they learned a lot.

To being one step closer to a STEM Future,
